Meet My New Guide Dog

Meet Rosie 🌹

The news I’ve been waiting so badly to reveal!
I can now finally tell you after weeks of knowing. I have started training with my second guide dog!
Back in August I received that wonderful call from @Guide Dogs. They called to say that they had a dog that I thought would be a match for me. The next week I was in London meeting my soon-to-be new guide dog. After one walk with her and a sleepover at my house. I finally got the news that I had been longing for for six months. She was a match!

Her name is Rosie, she’s a black Labrador Golden retriever cross. She is an incredibly sweet and in endearing Little soul. She’s funny and has a number of odd little quirks that I absolutely love already. She works very well with me and I’m told absolutely loves visiting new places.

She’s got a very curious personality and loves nothing more than to peek inside gardens, houses and shopfronts as we pass them.
I’m currently training with her in a hotel in London and after that I’ll be training from my home. The training is going to take roughly around five weeks and after that I should be qualifying with her.
I still cannot quite believe this is happening so soon, I honestly felt like I was in a dream when I received the news.

I keep having to remind myself that this is actually happening and for real.

I’m so excited to start my new adventure with my second guide dog who will be the next chapter in my life.

I’m utterly thrilled for you all to learn more about her as I do.
I’m one step closer to being back on the road to freedom.

In todays video I'm going to be talking about what its like trying to shop online as a visually impaired person and some of the issues I face.
I'll be talking VoiceOver, visual accessibility and website navigation.
I decided to make this video as today the 3rd of November marks Purple Tuesday 2020 here in the UK.

Purple Tuesday is an annual event founded by the charity Purple. The event is an accessible shopping day aimed at raising awareness of disability accessibility for disabled shoppers.

Seeing as this year is going to be a bit different with social distancing and restrictions. I decided to talk about online accessibility.
