Having built his foundation as part of the ahead-of-its-time Raider Klan, alongside Spaceghostpurrp, Denzel Curry, and Xavier Wulf, Simmie began branching out in the early 2010s to establish himself as a solo artist. Known for his steadfast delivery and ominous beat selections, Simmie quickly became a notable figure in his state's growing underground scene. With a handful of mixtapes released under the Raider Klan umbrella, Simmie's 2013 mixtape Basement Musik put him on the map, drawing comparisons to Three 6 Mafia's early work. Simmie's next projects, both part of his Shut Up and Vibe series respectively, gained him traction on Billboard's Emerging Artist chart and he had become a collaborator of Robb Bank$, Pouya, Cashy and Denzel Curry, just to name a few. Simmie's output remained unwavering, as he dropped tape-after-tape and song-after-song leading to 2017's Big Smokey project, which marked his last release as part of Raider Klan. With a fusion of alternative rock and hip-hop, Jack Bronco brings a unique sound and style to hip-hop’s ever changing landscape. As auto tune continues to be a dominant element in hip-hop, Jack’s raw voice reflects a refreshing authenticity and vulnerability, which sets him apart from the surplus of emerging artists. These features are on full display on his new album “Saint, which is available worldwide now.
On the track “Dead Star,” the ambient guitar melodies combined with rock drums set the tone of the track, leaving ample space for Jack’s vocals to shine. In recent years, hip-hop has seen more rock influence than ever before, and Jack’s sound fits perfectly into the new age of hip-hop, yet staunchly stands on its own. Directed by GT films, the “Dead Star” video takes viewers on a nostalgic journey through adolescence as Jack and his crew party around a bonfire in a vacant lot. Jack’s love interest plays a large part in captivating viewers – together they participate in illicit activities that warrant the attention of the cops, but are ultimately able to escape and embrace each other.
As A3C and iHipHop Distribution partner together to deliver their 9th official album, “Dead Star” serves as the fifth single released from the project. As a solo artist and founding member of the Jet Life Crew, Young Roddy has built a successful career for himself, learning from some of the most talented rappers in the game. One of his most influential mentors, Curren$y, took Roddy under his wing and helped refine his talent. Produced by Drupey Beats, the track sees all three artists in their element, flowing over soulful production and effortlessly trading off energetic verses. Roddy kicks things off with a smooth entrance, then Smoke DZA steps in, dropping a fantastic verse before passing it off to Curren$y, who puts the cherry on top. When a cast like this steps to the plate, everyone expects them to hit it out of the park, which is exactly what they have done. Young Roddy’s upcoming album Never Question God is slated for release on February 18th; he’s been building up the hype for the project since November when he dropped his single “Out The Hood” with Conway The Machine.
With a strong finish to 2021, Roddy carries plenty of momentum into this year, and rightfully so: his last two singles have featured appearances from Killer Mike and Conway The Machine.
