We're not very big on holidays here, but we wanted to start new traditions with the children. When they were younger, we'd spend the holidays with my or Justin's parents, but those became fewer and fewer as time went on. Sometimes we'd spend it with friends, or just my parents, but once the pandemic hit, we were very disillusioned. Last year we were separated, so I spent it with my best "family" while Justin and the kids spent it making gingerbread houses.

The pandemic really put a damper on our spirits, so Justin and I decided to make it fun for the kids. Sure, the kids' felicity was what we aimed for, but we all had fun!

The spell to greet the sun was from the book "The Daily Spell Journal" by Patti Wigington

The yule log sponge cake was an adaptation of the jelly roll sponge cake in the DK Complete Children's Cookbook

The simmer pot was an adaptation of one found at youtu.be/cHH-LaJO4hg

The Happy Yule coloring page was a freebie from houseofwitchcraft.com and the other coloring pages were from The Pooja Pages children's magazine at thepookapages.com

All in all we had a great time. I hope all of you are enjoying the season, wherever you are.
