As if anyone in the world cared for it. But if someone out there did, does, or (d)will, for the sake of archiving there are 5 magic spells in the game, 4 elemental swords, and 3 gemstones you can find quite easily in the dungeons. You can temper the Emberwind, Thunder, and Sleetwind sword with the Ruby, Topaz, and Sapphire respectively by visiting the southern house in Selrei. It costs a hefty amount to do so, but the gemstones don't have any use and gold is only useful for so long so eh. The final two swords, the Hero and Radiant swords, come with their own magic and can't be tempered.

It all basically boils down to fireballs. Nothing special really, if anything the magic is just in this game out of obligation.

Emberwind: The basic fireball in most games. When tempered, it gets some "homing" properties and can have a habit of bouncing off in weird directions. It also has trouble catching fast enemies, which are usually the most dangerous and in ample numbers end game.

Thunder: A basic ball of thunder. When tempered, it shoots two shots in a cross/figure-8 style pattern. Sounds useful, but considering magic is most useful since it can push things out of your face, it's probably a downgrade if anything.

Sleetwind: Fires...an ice ball. When tempered it fires the iceball and two additional shots in a spread formation. Probably the most useful of the original 3.

Hero: Free healing at the cost of a moderate chunk of MP. It's not a full heal, but given the amount of MP you may have at any point in the game you should typically have enough to get you to an outdoors area to naturally heal. Useful during bosses as well.

Radiant: Fires a pattern of light shots identical to the Sleetwind sword when upgraded. Costs a little more MP but it comes naturally on the strongest sword in the game so is worth it by the time you get the weapon.
