Youtube has long suffered from a parasitic shadow economy of compromised channels, pushing crypto and tech scams on viewers. In the 4 years since this issue was brought to my attention, it has progressively worsened and evolved to a state where it is almost normal to witness on the platform.
With minimal changes, YouTube could very well have a dampening effect on this shadow economy, but as it stands the threat Actors responsible are faced with lax standards that allow them free reign of the platform. Hopefully that will change.
