Why I think that, for all that's come out of it, YouTube is really not all that great when it comes to creating communities. Remember: all the really cool things about YouTube are because of people, not platforms.
There's this new YouTube ad that showcases a couple of comments made on current event videos, pushing the idea of a global community, connected by YouTube. Those comments are not at all representative of the typical YouTube comment, unfortunately. But it's a nice thought. Maybe we can actually get there someday?
