My YouTube channel was demonetized after YouTube’s AI systems flagged me potentially inauthentic or AI-generated content. Apparently I missed the monetization appeal deadline after receiving a notification tied to the YouTube Partner Program, and now I’m stuck deciding whether I even want to reapply.
What’s frustrating is that I’m not the only creator dealing with this. More and more content creators and YouTube Shorts creators are talking about YouTube demonetization, AI content detection issues, reused content flags, monetization problems, and automated moderation systems incorrectly identifying real human-created videos as AI-generated content.
The wild part? Ads are still showing on the videos.
This channel was never really about making money. My goal has always been sharing mental health information, practical tips, and content that might help someone feel seen or understood. The messages from people saying the videos helped them are the reason I kept coming back to post.
Now I’m having to figure out what comes next as a creator on YouTube in an era of AI moderation and automated content detection.
