Seriously, I went from not shipping these two at all, to shipping them a little, to thinking they were pretty cute, to realising they're perfect together.
I now feel obliged to write a lengthy paragraph about why I like them together. ;D
When Lester was, in his own words, feeling 'dead already', Angela came into his life and brought him back to life. She motivated him to do something with his life, to enjoy each day, to be, in a sense, a better person. Yes, he was blinded by his attraction to her, but in a way it was kind of cute. XD Meanwhile, Angela was so vain and in love with herself that she pushed people away...she couldn't create normal relationships with people; it always had to be about her. With Lester, she used him to feed her own ego, but when everyone else turned against her he was the one person she had left. And I do think she was genuinely interested in him at the point when they kissed. She was suddenly worried about what he thought about her, if he would judge her. Her own opinion didn't matter anymore, and that was when he made her a better person.
If you haven't seen this movie, I really recommend it. Lester and Angela's romance aside, American Beauty really is a beautiful and thought-provoking film. I was reluctant to watch it because I thought it might not live up to the hype it receives, but it really is an amazing masterpiece and it's easily one of my favourite films.
