I love this reflection Tuula shared for our Unfinished Maps zine. The two halves pivot on a clip from The Truman Show, where Truman's teacher shuts down his aspiration to be an explorer, saying, "You're too late, there's really nothing left to explore".
This attempt to put Truman off being curious about the boundaries around his existence carries an eerie familiarity for many of us. We learn to shut down our creative curiosity, handing over the maps of discovery to platforms and virtual realities built by others, which limit the ceiling of our imagination to the parameters they want us to believe in and profit from.
