So often, I see Catholic organizations posting a video that ultimately fails. It doesn’t reach their audience, the performance is dismally low, and they walk away saying, video marketing does not work for our organization.
That’s simply not true. Video does work, and it can work for you. What you must remember is that a video isn’t an isolated event; it must be connected to a greater strategy to be effective.
If I ask, what is your goal, do you have a clear picture of who you want to reach and what you want them to do? Too often, the answer is “everybody,” and groups fail because they try to boil the ocean.
If you’re a local charity, at the very least you need to remember that a donor is a local person with a certain age and income level. So what is your greater strategy to gain their attention, educate them, and ultimately, inspire them to donate? And where does video fit into that process?
Create a strategy first, write down clear goals and definitions. Then and only then, plan out how video will help you achieve these goals.
