“ربما فتح لك باب الطاعة و ما يفتح لك باب القبول، و ربما قضى عليك الذنب فكان سببا في الوصول،
فمعصية أورثت ذلا و افتقارا خير من طاعة أورثت عزا واستكبارا"
“Sometimes He opens the door of obedience for you, but not the door of acceptance; or sometimes He condemns you to sin, and it turns out to be a cause for union with God. A disobedience that bequeaths humiliation and extreme need is better than an obedience that bequeaths self-infatuation and pride”
This ḥikmah challenges simplistic views of sin and obedience. Not all acts of worship guarantee spiritual benefit if they inflate the ego, and not all sins are spiritually harmful if they awaken humility, neediness, and reliance on Allah.
