There’s art trends for a reason: attention. Sure, they’re fun to do, but they become trends because everyone is watching and giving them attention. Obviously if you’re posting online, you want people to see what you make. You can be humble and not let it get to your head, but every artist (most likely) that posts on here publicly wants eyes on them. Especially, if you want to pursue art as a career. In my opinion, your best bet right now IS social media. It’s incredibly hard to find actual 9 to 5 jobs as an artist so being a freelancer is more guaranteed, plus exposure makes it easier for you to actually get employed by big companies. Yes, we have fun creating and do make art for ourselves too, but your favorite artist with millions of followers is so grateful that so many people have eyes on them. I hate when *some* people make it seem like wanting attention is a bad thing. When you’re ONLY creating FOR attention, it can lead to de motivation and burnout when you’re not getting the results you want. But, there’s nothing wrong with wanting to be “popular” and succeed knowing that your art inspires thousands around the world and lets you live comfortably enough to make your art your job. Just don’t forget the consequences that come with it.
