Trying to figure out how to end a story can make you feel like you’re standing in front of six doors, and every one of them looks suspicious.
One ending feels too easy. Another sounds exciting in your head, but when you try to write it, something is off. Or maybe you’ve written the whole book and now your characters are standing around waiting for you to decide what happens to them.
So how do you find the ending that actually belongs to YOUR story?
In this video, we’re going to look at a clue writers often miss when they’re trying to write a satisfying ending. And no, the answer isn’t simply to add a shocking twist, kill somebody, or set the hotel on fire. Although our hotel may be haunted, so I’m not ruling anything out.
Your story has been giving you information about its ending from the moment it began. The trick is learning how to hear what it’s telling you.
