Before you train the horse, gather the data.
Send your horse around once in each direction and pay attention to how they respond to the environment. What happens when they see a tarp? Do they turn, rush, freeze, or try to run through you?
Knowing those answers beforehand helps you prepare instead of react. A horse that might run you over on the ground could also run away with you under saddle.
