I watched this movie and the same night I started this video. I actually got this video done in two days which is a super rare occurrence for me. ^--^
I wasn't expecting to like this movie. I'd heard about it here and there, but when I found out it was directed by Makoto Shinkai (5 Centimeters per Second) ...I wasn't that interested anymore. ^^; I know he's a famous director and all, and his animation style is beautiful but his movies are...sorta boring. So I was expecting this to be a boring one but it surprised me! Even though it was very simple, I was interested the whole time. I think it was really well made and the way certain scenes were shot gave it a really unique atmosphere. ^^ But I think the best thing he did with this movie was making it only 45 minutes. If this movie had been an hour and a half, I probably would have gotten bored.
So anyway, The Garden of Words was surprisingly good and I'd recommend it. Usually I wouldn't edit to movies I'd just seen because I don't want to bother downloading them but since this one was short I made an exception.
I spent the whole night on this video and then finished it the next morning. While making it I felt like it would turn out really epic or something... But it always feels that way when you're making a video. And then you watch it after it's done and realize "Oh, it's actually pretty short and simple" o-o But that's okay. I still like this video. ^^
I had the idea of doing this video artistically. I wanted to edit in the way the movie was filmed. That doesn't really make sense...but it's what I was thinking as I edited. ^^

And also, I probably wouldn't have edited this video at all if I hadn't found the right song. When I was thinking about editing something, I had no idea what song I would use and I figured I would probably give up on the idea of editing it (because I hate spending an hour deciding on the right song). But I barely had to go through my media player when this song suddenly came to mind and it was decided! I LOVE Icon for Hire and I think everyone should listen to their new CD because it is SO amazing. I've wanted to edit the new CD since I heard it and now I have! Now I hope I can get around to editing Attack on Titan to them like I've been wanting to...
This song was perfect because the bells in it are kind of like raindrops. I really like how the movie was so themed around rain so my video also had to be themed around rain. ^^ And this footage is so pretty~ I love pretty footage because it does all the work for you.

PS: I watched this movie in English (and the English version is good). But then I found out the main guy's Japanese voice is Miyu Irino... Who happens to voice Sora and Syaoran from Tsubasa Chronicles and Jinta from Anohana and who happens to be a really amazing voice actor... And I wished I'd watched it in Japanese xD
