Today I spoke with Simone, who placed her faith in Jesus as a child but ultimately deconverted as the truth claims of Christianity fell apart.
We touched on many topics, including:
• Growing up dominated by fear that others around her were headed to hell, and consequently evangelizing even as a young child.
• Sensing the voice of god in her head as well as the pressure to make god proud all the time.
• Seeing early on in life the Bible's message that women are not as valuable as men.
• Deconverting from Christianity as she realizing that worldview makes no sense.
• Grieving the time she wasted during her time as a Christian.
• Reclaiming her identity apart from the god character.
• Healing from the intense self-hatred she inherited from Christianity.
