For those with period correct Retro PCs, you can use Hard Drive bay / tray to hide modern storage devices such as SD card, Compact Flash card or Solid State Drive.

It makes for easy cable management, unlike devices that install at the back of the computer. The modern storage devices are easy to access, and you can then connect them to a modern computer with for example a USB SD card reader or USB SATA adapter to make a backup or load games and other software.
