Whatever your developers built above your infrastructure is a platform. You didn’t get a say in it, it was tuned to whatever one team needed at the time, and it gets complicated and strange. The bigger the organization, the more of them you have. Then those developers move on to other work, and you inherit the lot. As @thecote says, there’s a technical term for that situation...
And it’s happening again with AI, arriving through consultants and centers of excellence who can’t just use the platform you already have - and then it’s you who gets asked how to manage it.
