Yosemite National Park, California USA - October 2021, I visited Yosemite for my very first time. This was my first solo trip to the incredible national park of Yosemite. I can't believe it took me this long to get here.
It all came to fruition thanks to an incredible partnership with High West Whiskey. High West challenged me to go out and try their American Prairie Bourbon somewhere in the mountains. So, I booked a last minute flight from San Diego to Fresno, California, rented a car at Fresno Airport, and drove from Fresno to Yosemite National Park.
The goal was to experience as many things to do in Yosemite National Park as possible in just 24 hours. From Half Dome and El Capitan to Glacier Point and Taft Point, I was overwhelmed by how many things to do in Yosemite there was! I knew I wanted to experience hiking in Yosemite and camping in Yosemite, but I was on a limited travel schedule.
I was able to snag a last minute campsite in Yosemite at the Lower Pines Campground, thanks to a cancellation, and that's where I stayed for two nights (without a tent or camping supplies).
Unfortunately, because I came to Yosemite in October, there were a few roads closed because of the unpredictable weather. Glacier Road was closed so Glacier Point and Taft Point trail were also off-limits; two things I really wanted to do while here in Yosemite.
Regardless, I watched the sunrise over Tunnel View, walked around Cook's Meadow and hiked up to the incredible Nevada Falls off the Mist Trail.
It was the perfect first solo trip to Yosemite, even though there is still so many things to do in Yosemite that I haven't experienced. Next time!
