This teaching concerning Yom Kippur, The Day of Atonement is a prophetic revelation for the last days. We shall uncover the ancient mystery of atonement, the covering of blood, and the final judgment that is soon to come upon the earth.
In Leviticus 16 and 23, the appointed moedim of Yom Kippur is described in detail. We shall see the Hebrew word “kippur” (כִּפֻּר) in these verses mean covering. It’s the same word used when Noach (Noah) covered the ark (Genesis 6), right before the flood of judgment. A pattern emerges: before judgment comes, a covering is needed. After eating the fruit of mixed knowledge (good and evil) Adam and Hawwah (Eve), became aware of their nakedness. Their fig leaf covering represents man’s attempt to fix what only blood and righteousness can cover. But YaHuWaH provided skins, showing us a sacrifice had been made. The fig tree becomes a prophetic image, both of Israel and of Messiah. Some ancient fig types had to be pierced to be fruitful, a striking shadow of the pierced Redeemer.
Further, the awesome and inspiring Psalm 110, depicts Dawid (David) seeing his Master seated at the right hand of YaHuWaH, called to be a Kohen forever after the order of Malki-Tsedeq (Melchizedek) which is a priesthood that transcends Levi, Moses, and even Abraham.
In Hebrews 9, this is fulfilled in Messiah Yahushua, our Heavenly High Priest, who offers not the blood of bulls and goats, but His own blood, once for all, before the Throne in Shamayim.
Daniel 7 gives us the prophetic fulfillment of Yomn Kippur and the final Judgment. We see in this chapter:
The Ancient of Days is seated
The books are opened
The Son of Man (Ben Adam) comes with the clouds
The beast is judged and destroyed
This matches Revelation 19, where the King of Kings returns in power, clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and strikes down the beast and his kingdom.In Daniel 12, we see the resurrection, some to everlasting life, others to shame and contempt. In Revelation 20, the Great White Throne Judgment unfolds, where the dead are judged by what is written in the books.
This is the prophetic revelation of Yom Kippur:
The time of mercy is still open,
The books are not yet closed,
But the High Priest is standing...
And the Day of Atonement will soon become the Day of Judgment.
