Yes the SNES is backwards compatible with the NES thanks to Project Nested, the NES emulator for the SNES!
It's a stunning achievement and I've been talking with its creator. It runs amazingly well, with many games already darn near perfect and more to come in future updates. Coder Myself086 has done what Nintendo couldn't!
