The whammy bar—or wigglestick as our friends at 60 Cycle Hum like to call it—is one of the most iconic pieces of guitar hardware ever created. Think about it, what would Jimi Hendrix sound like without his strat trem, or Eddie Van Halen without his dive bombs?
There are a ton of different tremolo systems available both on stock guitars and in the aftermarket world, and each has its own advantages and disadvantages (cough-cough, restringing a Bigsby).
So this week, Ryan, joined by special guest and Hippo Campus guitar tech Kai Brewster, decided to dive into all the different tremolo system types he could find, and talk about whats good—and bad—about each of 'em.
