After enjoying Neal McDonough’s chilling role as Malcolm Beck in season two, fans have spotted a call-back to one of his earliest performances. Known for his supporting roles in blockbusters such as Captain America: The First Avenger and Sonic the Hedgehog, Neal McDonough had a major presence in the second season of Yellowstone. As John Dutton (played by Kevin Costner) and his family struggled to maintain control over their coveted ranch, the land was threatened by the arrival of the Beck Brothers.

In this film, the future Yellowstone baddie portrayed another slimy casino-owner, Jay Hamilton. When former Special Forces sergeant Chris Vaughn (Johnson) returns to his home town to find it overrun with crime and corruption originating from Hamilton’s casino, he gets to work cleaning up his old neighbourhood. Some fans are convinced a pivotal moment between John Dutton and Malcolm Beck was a direct shout-out to one of McDonough's breakthrough roles.
