Come yarn hunting with me in Manchester! 🧶🇬🇧
This isn’t quite your usual yarn haul. On my trip back to the UK, I decided to approach yarn shopping differently — instead of buying yarn first and then looking for a project, I started with the projects I wanted to make.
I had colours, fibres and quantities in mind, and then set out to see what I could find in Manchester — from local yarn shops and charity shops to secondhand yarn on eBay.
I love the excitement of finding beautiful yarn, but I’m trying to be much more intentional about what I bring home. For me, this is part of creating a more sustainable handmade wardrobe: choosing yarn with a purpose, making pieces I know I will wear, and giving beautiful existing yarn a second life whenever I can.
There’s also a little bit of Manchester along the way, including some crochet bombing, as I spend time back in the city where I grew up.
So let’s see what I found — and whether I managed to stick to my plan!
