After discovering a local sand track ( see part 1 here - youtu.be/YS2rJ3DIsUY ) we decided to try our little Yamaha XT250 and see if we could make it through. This is a well used and at times steep soft 4X4 track with deep dips dug out by the four wheeled brigade so there was no real benefit of getting up much speed so I had to hope there was enough power to ride out of the soft sections. How did it go? Well I think it proves the XT can manage due to the fact it's light enough to manhandle but with the standard 'old school' suspension, I didn't have the confidence to hit this section at high speed, I'd have been thrown off for sure. I just had to keep a low gear and go the best I could for the conditions. What it does prove though is that the XT250 can in fact be used as an adventure bike, it still got through and ultimately adventure riding is just getting to your destination. It will always do that. Next up will be the T7! Four times the power, heavier but with more modern suspension and maybe I can attack it differently and just blast through!
