A short update about Mitsubishi HS-U54 Mr Magnétoscope 2021-02-27 | Mr. Magnetoscope reviewed this VCR twice and both times it was showing lines in the picture. He was supposed to bring this VCR to the recycling center but since it's still there, I guess he changed his mind. I'm currently trying all his VCRs in order to determine if they are all working well, and the HS-U54 seems to be working fine, without any line in the picture. Maybe the lines were related to the small TV he was using for testing? I don't know. But on the LCD TV, the picture seems to be OK. I thought you would be interested to know that finally, this VCR seems to be working great, and I was expecting that you could tell me why it does not show lines anymore.And as a bonus, I can tell you that all 4 Mitsubishi remotes that we have are working with all 4 Mitsubishi VCRs owned by Mr. Magnetoscope. We only have 1 original remote, the others are coming from other Mitsubishi models, but are working fine with HS-U449, HS-U51, HS-U54 and HS-U530. I like when remotes can be used on any VCR from a same brand.

It's a very special VCR because it's an industrial type VCR, it was designed for being used in a studio with other editing equipment. It has the ability to record Beta1 speed with hi-band mode, AKA SuperBeta.
A broken Hitachi VT-1370A VCR Mr Magnétoscope 2019-08-07 | Here's a vintage Hitachi VHS VCR from the 1980's with the famous six belt mechanism. I've had 2 of them before, one was a RCA from the recycling center 4 years ago. It worked the first time I tested it, but a moment after I opened it, it developed an electronic problem making it no longer worked except for the VFD display. In April 2018 I found a Hitachi stereo VCR at the thrift store with the same mechanism, so I decided to give it a try, and it ended up doing the same exact issue as the RCA. Now I just found another Hitachi with this mechanism at Value Village, so I took one last chance buying this mechanism and find out if it would have the same trouble. This VCR is very similar to the broken one I had last year, but it's a lower end 3 head mono unit.
