MadManMax was most likely uploaded around October 2007. The Halloween or fall type setting makes that seem like a reasonable guess, but I do not know for certain. What I do know is that Jakey almost certainly downloaded this video sometime in very early 2008 after discovering PunkGoose and becoming completely fascinated by his work.
People often ask where Jakey's style came from, especially when looking at the tournament videos and the projects that came before. The answer is never just one person or one video, but MadManMax represents a very important piece of that story to me. It captures a lot of the things that Jakey was searching for at the time. Humor, editing, storytelling, and what he was always building up to- something potentially greater than just mere jokes but instead an actual story.
Back then, Jakey was constantly experimenting. He would try different styles, different creators, different ideas, and then move on to the next new or big thing. But PunkGoose was different. He was one of the first creators who made Jakey stop and seriously think about what he wanted to create himself. Not just what videos he wanted to make, but what kind of creator he dreamed of becoming, even if he took it too far at times.
Jakey told me that the tournament was his "gift" to finally capture that dream.
That is why finding this video ended up being so exciting for me. We originally stumbled across it after pivoting away from match 1 as a break after we ran into a lot of difficulties on a certain segment. Jokas and I WERE hoping to find some early Jakey content. But instead, we found a small piece of the path that eventually led to everything that followed.
The endless hours I spent with Jakey creating things, then the tournament. And now, Justice for Team BulletTime. All of it traces back through butterfly effects like this.
The wind just blew it a certain way, just like how it blew you to end up reading this right now, so take that wind and go soar along with it! :D
Funny how that works, isn't it?
You spend so long working for one thing, and sometimes what you find instead explains how and why you were looking for it in the first place.
I hope you enjoy the video and get to see a little snippet of what inspired Jakey all those years ago.

– LuigiPAINTBALL SAGA: Match 1 - BulletTime v WeisKingzJustice for Team BulletTime2026-08-03 | Description by Jokas.
18 Years ago today, at around this time. Jakey uploaded this video to his YouTube channel.
After so long. After so many delays. After so many mishaps. After so many errors. I can finally say something I wasn't sure I would ever be able to say.
I found it.
This is Jakey's first gameplay video from the Summer 2008 Paintball Tournament.
For a long time, this video sat at the center of the entire project. It was one of the earliest tournament recordings, one of the most requested recoveries, and the biggest hurdle I've faced so far. Earlier this year I mentioned that each of these videos presented completely different challenges than anything we had recovered before. This was one of them.
Looking back now, it's strange finally seeing it.
Not because of the match itself, but because so many names, stories, and memories I've spent off and on repressing and thinking about are suddenly right in front of me. Warlike. BulletTime. The old paintball community. People who, at the time, had no idea anyone would still care about this nearly two decades later.
I was one of those people. Something I thought would be a quick project turned into all of this. Something that changed my life for a second time. But it has allowed me to meet Jakey again in some way that I never could back when I was there with him.
One thing that immediately stands out is how Jakey approached everything. Even during a tournament match, he couldn't resist turning things into a conversation, a joke, or some strange bit of commentary. He paid the price by standing still and getting sniped every 30 seconds, though. Winning mattered, but making something entertaining mattered too.
But what is most important is that I finally have this video right in front of me. Living, breathing, proof.
I was right. The computer could even blow up tomorrow, but the world would know I was right. But there is so much more to be done, and more I must uncover; now that I know it's possible, I cannot let this up.
I now find myself following the footsteps that he took. A burden that was once his to sort through is now mine to carry, and it must be carried to completion.
As I've said before, I am not currently able to give a timeline for when the entire restoration project will be complete. There is still a long road ahead and many things left to uncover.
But this was a major hurdle.
And now it's behind us. I can look forward.
Let me take a moment to thank and share the names of others who made this possible: The DecodedCollective Archivist and LuigiStackz101. It was a good team effort. This entry was very hard on me, and I might reach out and ask for more help with this in the future.
A thank you to everyone who has remained patient, shared information, asked questions, and continued to support the project. Every email, comment, screenshot, and memory has helped move things forward.
I stress at times. But having this complete has taken a huge load off my back. I can now finally relax abit. The next video appears to be easier, but don't get your hopes up. The one after that? We'll get there when we get there.
For now, everyone, enjoy the video. It's time to celebrate.
After 18 years, it's finally back, and we're not losing this again.
Oh. Right. I almost forgot. LuigiStackz found something that he found was really cool on the drive. One of the earliest saved videos. It is not of JakeyThrillz, but one made by PunkGoose focused on a slasher Roblox film.
Luigi wanted to upload the video normally; I didn't want it uploaded at all. We compromised and made it unlisted right here. I do not like this channel not being used for its intended purpose.
Even then, I couldn't have done it without Luigi's help, so go check out his project for me. Alright? Even if it doesn't have anything to do with what we're doing right now.
Jokas reminded me to say this was probably released on the 26th of July.
It’s hard to remember the exact day someone first told me to try out this new game called Roblox. What I do remember, though, is how amazed I was hearing about it. A friend of mine was explaining how players could build almost anything they wanted inside the game, and that idea stuck with me right away.
It wasn’t long before I started noticing Roblox popping up more often online. I began seeing videos of people experimenting with the platform, and the forums were full of activity. The more I watched and read, the more interested I became in what people were creating.
That’s how I eventually met Jakey.
We first crossed paths on the Roblox forums, specifically in the Creations Gallery subforum, sometime around the summer of 2007. At the time, he was talking about a video series I hadn’t heard of before and how much he wanted to try making something similar himself. I believe it had something to do with video content. He linked one of the videos in a post, and after watching it I commented about how funny I thought it was and said I’d definitely be interested in seeing people try their own versions of it.
From there, we slowly started talking more. Before long, we ended up becoming friends and collaborators.
Back then, we never really scheduled time to work together; it just kind of happened naturally. We both had a lot of free time, so we’d send each other files from projects we were experimenting with. My main editing tool was Sony Vegas 8, though I often used Windows Movie Maker for quicker edits. That ended up being helpful because Movie Maker was really the only software Jakey had access to at the time.
I showed him some of the basics, and from there we just started making things. Over the next year or so we worked on a number of Roblox machinima projects together. Most of those videos were never finished or have been lost over time, but they were some of our earliest attempts at learning how to create things on the platform.
Recently, I was contacted by Jokas, who’s been working on documenting and preserving parts of the early Roblox Tournament Search history. Together, we’ve been revisiting some of these old files and projects to see what still exists.
He asked if I still had any drafts or old materials related to Jakey’s work from around 2008 and later, so I started digging through some of my old hard drives and backups. While going through them, I came across a few unfinished video drafts that Jakey had worked on. The video you’re watching now actually came directly from Jakey’s old hard drive.
Neither Jokas nor I are experts when it comes to video restoration or recovery, so we’re doing our best to preserve whatever files we can still access in the condition they were found.
This whole effort is mainly a personal project for us, something to help document and revisit Jakeythrillz’s early work and the tournaments we were all involved in during those early Roblox years. We know a lot of this material is rough, unfinished, or incomplete, but it still represents a small piece of the community and the games we all spent time in together.
It’s also worth mentioning that this archive isn’t meant to recreate Jakey’s entire channel. Right now, his videos are primarily being used as reference material for documenting the 2007 and 2008 Roblox tournaments. Any effort to archive the rest of his content will likely be treated as a separate project in the future.
For now, the goal is simply to recover and share what we can.
Thanks to everyone who’s taken the time to watch and follow along as we revisit some of these early memories from the old games we all used to play. Please check out our Drive, which is linked in our channel description.THE BEST NEWS OF ALL TIME!Justice for Team BulletTime2026-03-16 | Description written by Jokas:
Estimated release date, around July 22nd, 2008?
So that brings us to the end of the three little introduction videos Jakey made. As far as I remember, these will probably end up being some of the shorter uploads in this archive. I also distinctly recall that later on he started putting together a small mini-series covering major updates and news about the tournament on the forums, almost like a little news channel summarizing what was happening around it.
Despite the issues we ran into while restoring them, these introduction videos were actually some of the easier ones to work with. Unfortunately, that probably won’t be the case for what comes next.
Now that we’re starting to move into the actual tournament footage likely after the practice video, the problems will begin stacking up pretty quickly. Corrupted files, missing pieces, strange exports… (getting resolutions right and consistent across everything was a surprising issue), all the things you’d expect when dealing with material this old. We’ll still do our best to keep the quality manageable as we continue working through it.
Part of the reason I’m putting the effort into writing these notes is because it feels like someone should. If nobody bothers to document any of this, it just disappears. I might only be writing a few paragraphs at a time, but there’s still a real person behind them, putting in the effort to do this, so consider that.
The same goes for the people you see in these videos; they are all real people, too, each with their own place in the small communities that formed around these games that once were. I can only give you snippets.
As much as I im trying to do justice to the efforts that Jakey made, there is still so much out there. BulletTime was only one team...out of over 30. Am I really doing a good job if I started out by doing it mostly for him?
Looking back at it all gives me a strange feeling. A lot of the people I used to interact with, and the communities we spent time in, slowly faded away without me really noticing. I didn’t think about most of it again until this computer, something that had been sitting quietly in the background of my life for years, suddenly turned up again. It has rocked my entire world and has changed how I really perceive value in things.
The next video won’t be covered by me, though. I handed that one off to Luigi. Writing these notes and organizing the archive alongside the Google Drive has been… a bit tiring.
The video's estimated release date is around July 17th, 2008.
This is another recovered clip from the tournament files we’ve been going through on the old drive.
Like the previous upload, some personal annotations appear as subtitles throughout the video. Those are just small notes I wrote while reviewing the footage, mostly things I remembered from the time, or thoughts that came back to me while watching it again. If they end up being distracting, feel free to turn them off. The footage should still make sense on its own.
Most of the editing and organization for videos like this was originally handled by Jakey. I wasn’t nearly as involved in that side of things back then, so there are parts where I honestly can’t provide much additional context beyond what’s already shown here. I Im truly retracing Jakey's steps here, and I'll try to fill you all in on the details.
What is important to note, though, is that this is our team and you'll be seeing stuff about these people in the coming videos. I feel uneasy rewatching this introduction, given everything, though. I'm happy I at least have Luigi to calm my nerves about it.URGENT: Recruits needed for Paintball Team BulletTime!Justice for Team BulletTime2026-03-16 | Description written by Jokas:
Based on when the files were last modified, we've set this as a release on the 17th of July, 2008. Funnily enough, despite being the “lieutenant,” I was never really the competitive type. Don’t get me wrong, I liked Mike’s Paintball well enough, but the real driving force behind all of this was Jakey. His enthusiasm for the game, and the tournament especially, was contagious.
Truthfully, a big part of the reason I got involved in the first place was because of him. In a way, that’s still the case.
I still remember the day he first heard about the tournament. If we had been texting each other instead of mostly using Xfire back then, I think all the notifications would've dislodged the little vibrator phones used to indicate you have a message.
He couldn’t stop talking about it.
Honestly, it’s probably a good thing it was summer break at the time. If school had still been in session, he would’ve spent every class talking about it and likely ended up in detention for it.
That was just how he was, once something caught his interest, he went all in.An IntroductionJustice for Team BulletTime2026-03-16 | Description written by Jokas
Apologies in advance if the editing here feels a bit… clinical.
I was never nearly as comfortable with video editing as Jakey or Luigi were. Most of what I’m doing here is simply organizing things in a way that makes them easier to follow while we go through the files.
A lot of the material being uploaded to this channel comes from an older computer that has been in my possession since 2008. For most of that time, it sat untouched in storage. I didn’t start seriously looking through it until February of 2025, when I came across it again while cleaning out my attic.
Once I found the proper cables and powered everything on, I realized the system still had some life left in it. At that point, I decided not to move forward alone. The hardware is fragile, and the drive itself is nearly two decades old, so it felt better to have someone else take a look before I started opening files at random.
That’s when I reached out to Luigi.
Some people might remember him as LuigiStackz from the older Roblox forums. We originally met back in 2008 through a mutual friend, though we didn’t interact much again after that. I was able to reconnect with him recently, and he’s been helping guide me through the recovery process.
Most of the time I’m just acting as his hands. I’ll point my phone camera at the screen while he tells me what to check, where to click, or which files might be worth opening. It’s not exactly elegant, but considering the age of the machine, it’s been surprisingly effective.
The hard drive itself is… messy.
There are a lot of fragments, incomplete files, and things that clearly haven’t been opened in a very long time. Every time we think we’ve reached the end of something, another folder turns up with more material inside.
Some of the videos appearing here come directly from that system. Others are partial drafts or exports that had to be reconstructed from different pieces. Not everything survived intact, but enough did that it felt worth documenting properly.
Most of what we’ve found so far relates to older Roblox tournaments and projects from around 2008. It seemed like a pretty significant event for the smaller groups following the tournament. Looking back now, though, there’s surprisingly little information about it left online. It’s also important to note that Team BulletTime wasn’t the only team involved; there were many others whose stories haven’t really been told.
That’s part of why this archive exists.
The goal here isn’t to speculate or dramatize things. I’m mainly interested in recording what still exists while it can still be accessed, old videos, screenshots, documents, anything that helps establish what actually happened during that period.
You might notice subtitles appearing during parts of the footage. Those are small notes written by either Luigi or me while reviewing the files. They’re mostly observations or context from when the recordings were originally made. If they end up being distracting, you can disable them and just watch the footage normally.
There’s also a Google Drive archive where we’re placing recovered materials and documentation as we go:
Just to be clear about something: not everything we uncover will be shared publicly. The drive contains a lot of unrelated personal information and other files that aren’t appropriate to release. What ends up here is only what we’ve decided is relevant to the events being documented.
My main focus right now is documenting the 2007–2008 tournament era, particularly the 2008 tournament era, due to its nature and the events surrounding it. Jakey’s videos happen to be one of the few sources I have that still show parts of those tournaments as they actually happened, which makes them incredibly valuable from an archival standpoint. His other videos are a separate project for the time being, though they’re still being preserved.
Also, please don’t attempt to contact individuals mentioned in the material. Luigi and I are keeping things fairly contained for a reason, and anything that needs to be handled privately is already being handled that way.
That said, if anyone happens to still have old paintball videos, screenshots, tournament images, forum captures, or anything else related to these events, feel free to send them over. Even small pieces of information can help fill gaps that otherwise wouldn’t make sense.
I’ll try to compile anything useful either in future uploads or within the archive so the information stays organized. There are still a few directories we haven’t opened yet. Luigi says some of them might take a while to recover.
It’s strange how much of this was still sitting here, just waiting to be opened again. Some of these files haven’t been opened since Jakey did his last edits on them.
