XXL Magazine: "The wait is officially over. The 2019 XXL Freshman Class is here. Now in its 12th year, the XXL Freshman franchise has consistently embraced hip-hop’s rising stars and helped push them to the forefront of the culture. Thanks to the internet, social media and, more importantly, the hip-hop fans, XXL Freshman has increased in popularity year after year. The decision on which artists enter the XXL Freshman Class comes together the same way as when it first started. We talk to everyone we possibly can—industry tastemakers, rappers, our friends, fellow hip-hop heads, the guy working at the corner store, whoever—to get their input on who they think should be picked for the class. Then we argue it out as a staff and narrow down the list. The Los Angeles XXL Freshman show will take place on Thurs., July 25 at The Novo. While Eminem’s surprise new album, Music to Be Murdered By Side B, doesn’t come packed with quite as many diss lines as 2018’s Kamikaze, there’s still plenty of bars directed at Mumble Rap & his competition. Side B: Drake In the third verse of Zeus, Eminem reflects on his years in the game, saying hes seen the hugest debuts while also seeing other artists come and go. Though not a diss, he warns Drake that—according to his own experiences—the public will eventually turn on him too. Machine Gun Kelly Also in Zeus, Machine Gun Kelly gets an early mention as Eminem ponders someone who believes MGK came out on top in their infamous public feud. Mariah Carey In the third verse of These Demons, Eminem poses a rhyme-based inquiry to listeners thats been widely interpreted as a continuation of the Em x Mariah saga. Snoop Dogg In the last verse of Zeus, which is stacked with name-drops, Em mentions Snoop while seemingly responding to comments he made earlier this year about Ems legacy. 6ix9ine The very first line of Zeus, as mentioned above, sees Em imagining a conversation with someone whose taste in music he rejects. Billie Eilish Back in May 2019, Billie Eilish reflected on how Eminem freaked the fuck out of me as a child. Though not a diss, Em references this interview comment in Alfreds Theme. Chance the Rapper Back to Zeus again, we hear a mention of Chance the Rapper as Eminem continues the career-based warnings that also saw him mention Drake earlier in the third verse. Future Again in Zeus, Em continues his warnings, this time giving Future a shout. Migos Concluding his third-verse Zeus wisdom, Em adds Migos to the list. Ja Rule In Eminems opinion, the chance of police catching him in a theoretical hot pursuit is about as slim as 50 Cent calling a truce with Ja Rule, per Discombobulated. Machine Gun Kelly & Nick Cannon: We first hear him name-check Machine Gun Kelly on the album’s second track, “Unaccommodating.” The two rappers feud boiled over in 2018 following the release of Kamikaze, and led to an exchange of diss tracks. Soon after, he goes off about how MGK’s comments about Em’s daughter first kicked off their feud. Joe Budden: Although Joe Budden was formerly a member of Eminem’s Shady Records label as part of Slaughterhouse, his transition from a rapper into a media commentator has put him at odds with his ex-boss. After taking shots at Joe on Kamikaze, Em doubles down with “Lock It Up”. Lord Jamar: Another long-term beef that spilled into Music to Be Murdered By is Em’s ongoing feud with Lord Jamar. The album’s penultimate track, “I Will,” finds Eminem calling Jamar the weak link in his former group Brand Nubian. Em also addressing Jamar’s claims that he’s a “guest in the house of hip-hop” by saying Jamar is only fit to clean said house: Tee Grizzley: On his 2019 track, “No Talkin,” Tee Grizzley claimed to “run Detroit” and dismissed Em’s reign in the city. The Shady Records boss finally fired back on “You Gon Learn,” saying Grizzley lacks skills on the mic. Hip-hop has arguably been the best genre of music in the past two decades. As hip-hop maintains its title, a lot has changed about the genre, such as the lyrics. Hip-hop has two phases, old school and new school each of which give off a different vibe. These phases can be divided into Mumble Rap and Lyrical Rap. Old School “Hip-Hop” has music based prevalently on African American culture. Artists such as Tupac, Biggie Smalls, and Eazy-E often rap about the struggles of growing up in a racialized environment and the work they put in to get where they are today. In popular songs such as “Changes” by Tupac and “Juicy” by Biggie Smalls, the artists explain how they went from “negative to positive” as Biggie put it. Old school hip-hop is still popular today and is regarded as “classic” by many hip-hop fans. “New school” hip-hop has different types of lyrics. Rappers from today’s generation sing typically about girls, money, and cars they have. Some even sing about how they do drgs, drink alchl, and party which sets a bad example for some listeners. Some of these rappers today did not have it as hard as rappers back in the old days. Also Hip-hop artists now are racially diverse, so African American culture is not necessarily found in music today. People who grew up listening to Tupac, Biggie, Eazy-E, and so on typically do not enjoy hip-hop in today’s era. Songs written when rap was introduced were lyrically better because rappers were able to tell a story using words that rhyme and flow. Some songs are also more appealing to fans because they can relate to the struggles their favorite rappers faced. People of this generation are used to listening to new school hip-hop which is the most played genre on the radio. These same fans reject old school Hip-Hop as a part of the music genre. There are even rappers who know nothing about the most influential Hip-Hop artists. Growing up listening to Eminem has caused me to fall in love with him as an artist. He introduced me to Hip-Hop. But I noticed a change in the music industry. Artists wanted to be part of the mainstream industry and they had to change their music to fit into the mainstream category. Because of new artists in hip-hop, many lesser known artists are rarely noticed. These artists are said to be “underground.” Underground rappers usually do not make it big because they have music related to the messages embodied by old school hip-hop artists would say. #hiphopuniverse #hiphopspecials

Mumble rap - the most recent art form of rapping - or arguably the art of not rapping. Rather than rapping clearly, eloquently, articulately and with prowess and esteem, mumble rappers string occasional words together, like “cat”, “sat” and if you’re lucky, “mat”. And mumble rappers tend to do just that, they mumble.

Nick Cannon Pray For Him EMINEM Diss/The Invitation Canceled, EMINEM Responds to Nick Cannon, Nick Cannon - “Pray For Him” (Eminem Diss) feat. The Black Squad (WSHH Exclusive), Nick Cannon The Invitation - Hip-Hop Universe
The entertainer decided to drop another diss track aimed at Eminem on Tuesday titled, Pray For Him. The song features members of The Black Squad who all take turns going after Em. You can watch the video below. This track comes just a day after Nick Cannon tapped Suge Knight to assist with his first diss track The Invitation. Now, you can listen to Cannon and The Black Squad go after Eminem again. Nick Cannon has added another slice of cheese to his longstanding beef with Eminem this time with an assist from Suge Knight. Cannon, who is currently hosting The Masked Singer, dropped a diss track Monday aimed at the rapper. Titled The Invitation, the song opens with phoned-in vocals from Knight who is currently imprisoned after being sentenced last year to 28 years in the d3ath of a man during a hit-and-run incident on the set of the movie Straight Outta Compton. I know you dont never do no talking, but Nick is family, Knight says on the track. Cannon is also joined by battle rappers Hitman Holla, Charlie Clips and Prince Eazy for what is essentially a call out for Eminem to face the Black Squad. Cannon and the Detroit rapper have been on beefing terms since 2002 after Eminem claimed he had been romantically involved with superstar singer Mariah Carey a claim she has consistently denied Carey and Cannon were married from 2008 to 2016 and are the parents of twins. Eminem dragged Carey on songs over the years and Cannon got involved in 2009 after Eminem released Bagpipes from Baghdad on which he took a swipe at the couple. Invite to battle The two men have sparred back and forth since then and recently Eminem reignited the feud with a guest spot on the Fat Joe/Dre single Lord Above. Cannon then went on his Los Angeles Power 106 FM morning radio show program to call the Detroit rapper old and challenged him to come on Cannons MTV show Wild N Out where comics engage in diss battles against each other. In The Invitation Cannon again calls Eminem out and makes some salacious allegations about Eminem and his chauffeur. Slim Shady responded Monday night by tweeting to Cannon to Stop lying and noting that hes never employed a chauffeur. #hiphopuniverse #hiphopbeefanalysis
