Overclocking (OC) is considered to be an art form by many PC enthusiasts, since it takes into account many aspects of hardware knowledge. So while overclocking can be complex, memory overclocking has been simplified over the years to allow novices and general DIY PC builders achieve a reasonable level of memory overclock with compatible CPUs and motherboards. XMP ("Extreme Memory Profile"; introduced by Intel in 2007) and EXPO ("EXtended Profiles for Overclocking"; introduced by AMD in 2022) are existing examples of such technology.
Enabling XMP/EXPO typically involves 3 steps:
1. Enter BIOS
2. Enable XMP/EXPO
3. Save and Reset
In this video guide, we demonstrate how to enable the XMP OC profile on an Intel platform with the ASUS Z790-AYW OC WIFI motherboard. The BIOS graphical interface of other ASUS motherboard BIOS may be similar, so the setting navigation and setting location would be similar for enabling the XMP OC profile.
