It would be hard to name a series that has consistently had a higher standard of games than the Xeno series, and this is largely why it’s one of my favorite gaming series of all time.
Xenoblade Chronicles X was originally released in 2010, as a unrelated sequel to Xenoblade Chronicles. That game was my favorite game on the Wii, so naturally, I had huge expectations for the sequel on the Wii U.
While very different from its predecessor and the other titles in the Xenoblade series, it did not disappoint, and easily took the title of my favorite RPG on the Wii U console.
This game is great, and this review is going to dive deep into why you should give it a go!

Valkyrie Profile was released for the PS1 in North America in the year 2000, and I would say it was about the 10th RPG that I played. It was not what I expected. Back then, developers Tri-Ace, gave us something completely different to the traditional RPG, and little ol’ me didn’t really understand what the hell I was doing.
Fast forward 20 years, and I remembered close to nothing about it, so, this playthrough of the recent PS5 port (Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth), was more or less a new experience for me.

The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails! This one was first released all the way back in 2012, as a PSP exclusive, and like many great JRPGs, it never left Japan. That is, until now , with the Legend of Nayuta HD remaster available on PS4, Switch and PC!
If you haven’t heard of this game before, you’re probably wondering. Does it have anything to do with the Trails series that we all know and love? Short answer, no. Nayuta is a spinoff, that doesn’t even take place in Zemuria, so there’s absolutely no requirement to have played any of the other trails game.
So, the question remains, is Legend of Nayuta worth playing? And does is have the magic of the other games in this epic series? Watch and find out.

30 odd years ago, I had my first experience with Pokemon Red. I was hooked. Seeing my favorite TV show in game form was absolutely mind blowing. This game was revolutionary, and the start of one of video game historys most successful franchises. Since then, nothing has really changed, but after 30 years, the evolution that I’ve been craving, has finally happened.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus finally changes up the formula, and has reignited my love for the series. Catching Pokémon has never been such an addictive experience, and this is one JRPG you should definitely look out for.

I’ve been slaying monster with over-sized swords since 2002, so the thought of befriending these giant creatures and having them fight alongside me, took a little while to adjust to... but once it did, I couldn’t get enough of breeding, training and riding on the ferocious beasts that I’ve been familiar with for the past 20 odd years.
Monster Hunter Stories is a spinoff series of Capcoms hugely popular Monster Hunter series. The latest in this sub-series, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, is a turn based JRPG with a self-contained story, so it’s not necessary to have played the first Monster Hunter Stories game on the 3DS.
To put it simply, Wings of Ruin is what happens when you breed a Pokemon game with a regular Monster Hunter title. Whether or not you’re into the core Monster Hunter titles, Wings of Ruin is a quality JRPG that you should definitely consider playing.

Crowdfunding has been around for a while, but it’s only been recently that some of my favorite, seemingly dead, RPG series, are getting the revivals they deserve. And yeah, I know that these titles I speak of, such as Eiyuden Chronicle, are not pure sequels, but instead spiritual successors. This means that they have the same core development team, and will contain many of the mechanics that we have come to love, from the original series.
The most recent revival is the double Kickstarter campaign for Armed Fantasia, which will be a spiritual successor to the much loved Wild Arms series, and Penny Blood, a spiritual successor to Shadow Hearts.
This video is going to look into what I want to see in Penny Blood! We are just over the halfway point of the kickstart starter campaign, and while the initial goal was funded in no time at all, there are still loads of achievable stretch goals that will make the game even better! How has it been nearly 5 whole years since the last Tales title, Berseria? Thats far too long for a series that is easily up there as one of my favorite JRPG series of all time. This series is the gift that keeps on giving, which is why I have been so excited to get my hands on Tales of Arise!
Developed by Bandai Namco, Arise was designed with the aim to evolve the Tales franchise formula, and this evolution is clear, most notably in the visual style. But the visuals aren’t the only thing that has evolved. Tales of Arise does quite a few things differently, for the better, while still feeling like a Tales game should.
