XCOM was one of the hottest games of the year, and it was only supposed to be the first in a series of tactical shooters that never really took off. We're left with a lineage of RTS games that now continues in XCOM 2. Since the events of XCOM a larger alien ship appeared and with it came a threat that humanity could not even fathom defeating. The council and politicians made a peace agreement in which the aliens and humans would live peacefully. But it's not all that it seems. The aliens have mutated and adapted humanity into their hive and are working to take over every single person.
