It is the year 2005. --The treacherous Decepticons have conquered the Autobots' home planet of Cybertron. But from secret staging grounds on two of Cybertron's moons, the valiant Autobots prepare to retake their homeland.

This is the 2005 where Sony had conquered the video game market and Microsoft was preparing a valiant takeover of the industry with the release of their newest console, the Xbox 360, one year before Sony and Nintendo! So lets take a trip down memory lane as Elijah Wood reveals to the world the Xbox 360 via this MTV infomerc... er.. "Special." Some guy named Jim Schearer was there too, it seems. He was an MTV and VH1 host, I guess. I... I dunno. 🤷♂️
Anyway, get ready to embark on the future of gaming, which consists of green lighting, lots of random people screaming, quick camera cuts, The Killers, pimped out cars, celebrities at game terminals and about 7 seconds of footage from Perfect Dark Zero, purportedly an "awesome" game featuring "elements I've never seen in any FPS."
Oh... I read somewhere that this aired 20 years ago TODAY (5/12/2005). And if you watched this when it first aired, you too likely realize how sad and old we've all become. Anyway... here it is again in full airing glory, thanks to the magic of VHS conversions! 😃

Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.
After finally being able to get back into my old 2011 iMac and directly accessing some incomplete and miscellaneous files I had converted over years ago (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4XnC07LcnY and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_nl-5WvMBU), I randomly came across THIS partial episode from the early days of X-Play. In it, Adam and Morgan review Unlimited SaGa (PS2) and show off The Haunted Mansion (GCN).
Seems it was on a tape with an episode of Power Rangers: Lost Galaxy... which would have made sense, since it was around the time that was airing weekends on ABC Family Channel and I had started getting into watching the Chip Lynn seasons. And whereas all of Lost Galaxy was released on DVD by Shout! Factory, none of X-Play has been released in any physical media format. 🤔
