The Timelines DLC add a new campaign system that we will be exploring to visit historical areas of the X-Universe and eventually seeing how/if it impacts the sandbox.

X4: Foundations is the eighth game by Egosoft set in the X-Universe, taking place in a different region of the galaxy from X Rebirth, with new factions and a different economy. It combines the best aspects of X Rebirth with X3, to create a new and improved game system which as far as I can tell truly captures an X4 experience.
