How can a superhero franchise that has had so much success in the world of cinema and comics - struggle so hard when it steps into video game form? Why have the exploits of Wolverine, Deadpool, Cyclops, Magneto and Storm been absent from our screens for over eleven years?
These are the questions we're going to answer today as we journey through the history of the X-Men in video game form - the most chaotic family of licensed adaptations ever produced
It'll take us from cult classics to genre masterpieces to licensed abominations - it'll leap between Street Fighter, Spiderman, Call of Duty, Hulk Hogan and the Avengers - it'll take us across seven decades, nine console generations and well over forty games.
It's part critique, part retrospective, part review and part history lesson - obviously full of spoilers and obviously full of my opinions.
