Truly Infamous
Beat Saturation (OpenMPT)
updated
Track is titled "Desperation"
I think it's fitting for a boss fight against some kind of otherworldly monster in a video game. I imagine the level/environment distorting in crazy ways. It might fit either for an Earthbound-style RPG or a big and intense level in an FPS game leading up to a boss battle. The boss might move around very slowly but its attacks are very high speed and violent.

old song originally meant as a bonus track on my last album. sounds like it could fit well as a theme for a level in Metroid Prime or smth.
I definitely think of this melody and play it a lot lol. Part of why it irked me I never finished it qwq
Sorry I haven't been very active on this channel recently. I've had a lot of other stuff occupying my time as of late and I had to go on a break from music so I didn't get burnt out as well. I've still been working on music in the meantime, though. Just not as much.
All of these short tracks will be up in their own playlist.
Sorry for only uploading loads of unfinished songs recently! I haven't really been at my creative fullest for a little while.
This song was made in less than an hour after getting inspired by a simple drumloop someone shared with me.
I started this project on a day my mental state was particularly poor. I had a lot of ideas for how to make this song and I ended up doing almost none of them the way I wanted. I tried to make this a little bit like a Femtanyl song, but they are an order of magnitude better at making harsh but listenable music than I am.
I wanted to do lyrics but I couldn't come up with anything cohesive and the TTS I was using was really difficult and didn't really sound the way I wanted. Everything in this project was toned down a lot from what my ideas were...
I spent a lot of time on the visualizer and I think that it looks pretty cool but it looks much better in the project when it's not getting compressed. The rest of the song is... I don't even care. Maybe I'll turn the end part into a different song. Managed to waste 7 hours on this shit.
The automation, effects, and mixer channels are a massive clusterfuck due to all the stuff I did to make the visualizer work and I don't know how salvageable it is. The end of the song started to get good imo but I can't bear to work on this thing anymore.
Thumbnail art (and the image used in the visualizer) is made by me. Follow my bluesky (linked in channel description) if you want to occasionally see art of wildly different styles, quality, and techniques.
I feel awful.
didn't give a shit about mixing this. This is unfinished but it sounds ok as a loop I guess. watch this just get popular for some unknown reason. the lower effort I put into the music or presentation, the more popular stuff tends to get. Inevitably my higher effort projects get worse or only marginally more attention than my regular crap. It really discourages me from trying anything new with my presentation.
hope you enjoy this track. i don't think it's anything to write home about.
I made the animation in Blender (It's a short loop because I didn't want to render for 12 hours straight. It still took about 5 minutes per frame for a 96 frame animation.)
When I finished the animation and added the music to it, I just... couldn't stop crying... Every time I watch this I keep fucking crying.
I think I finally made something that better represents how I feel right now. I feel so god damn isolated and lonely. I haven't had friends in almost five years and those were the kinds of friends made in school out of necessity. The only loose interests we shared were video games.
I don't know where to even begin. All my hobbies are things I do alone and I live in the middle of nowhere. I don't drink, I don't party, I don't go to concerts, and I work mostly by myself out on a nature preserve. I have minimal human contact in my life and what little I do is usually fleeting and not in a casual setting. More often I find myself just staring blankly for minutes on end, barely able to muster the will to move.
I just want to scream myself hoarse.
I know the future will be better but I'm fucking miserable. The little bouts of happiness fade faster and the darkness shows itself longer and more often than ever. I can't wait until this is all just a bad memory.
Making art and music is all I really have to keep me going. Being able to improve someone's day even a little bit through my creative works gives me more reason to go another day...
This track was made using the instruments from the song "The Penis - Eek!" by Surasshu that became a meme a while ago. Here is a link to that module: archive.org/details/thepeniseekprojectfile
I started this as a song inspired by it, and I tried out some of the techniques it used. I think this song turned out really good. I could've made this thing stretch to over 4 minutes long but I decided to keep it shorter. Here is the OpenMPT module: newgrounds.com/dump/item/2b48846838cd9ed8c1a6c627f9871b1c
I only made music for people twice, and I haven't done it again as I have so many more things occupying my attention now and I'm not unemployed anymore.
I find it kind of difficult to make ambient/sparse music. My ADHD brain wants more frequent stimulus so I make end up making energetic music. That, and the (obviously incorrect) idea that music which is less complex and took less time to make is somehow inferior to the stuff I spent more time on. I know I shouldn't think that way, but it still sits in the back of my mind.
This is an unsettling and droning ambient piece for a nightmarish subterranean realm. This song went through many iterations, and that's why the project has so many unused/muted arrangements.
Fun fact: one of the sound samples is from a YouTube video of Hurricane Ike where the building was resonating from the wind like a harmonica: youtube.com/watch?v=zMvu5EF13xA
Here's the other ambient track that I had made for that game:

I've got so many finished LMMS songs that I never got around to uploading so I guess that'll be what I'm posting for the time being as I'm running low on finished stuff from my other programs.
This one sounds good as a loop in its current state despite it being so simple. I still need to work on it in the future. Not sure how much I feel like working on it at the moment but I thought I'd share it anyway. I'll finish it one day.
The file name of the pad is "Track 22." Idk which sample pack it came from and I don't feel like looking for it right now. The sample packs that Akira Yamaoka used in the Silent Hill OST are pretty easy to find online.

Idk when I'll get around to working on this track again because I don't really feel like it right now.
I had planned to mix this but never got around to it, so I just decided now to say screw it and just upload it anyway. I could not for the life of me figure out a good name for this track so it will remain nameless.
Here is the link to the .mptm module if anyone is interested in messing around with the project:

I have the sample list in the description of that video, for those who are interested.
I've been working on this track for a little while and I'm liking it so far. I felt like sharing it even though it's still very unfinished. Unmixed so it doesn't sound very good at the moment. Made with OpenMPT.
its called the "Otherworldly Automaton" (i had to type that careful cuz the name is long) and i think it wuz ment to be a reward that nintendo put in the game for ppl that beat the game and want more battles. idk if theres any more secret bosses like this 1 but it wood be awesomesauce if there were.
the way u unlock the boss is u hav 2 "check" on every pencil statue u can find exactly 89 times then u gotta do some teleporting. u gotta teleport to onett, threed, twoson, fourside, threed, twoson, onett, summers, then winters. start from any place that isnt those ones. as long as u already checked all the statues 89 times, (make sure to keep track wen u do it so u dont lose count, if you do it too many times u cant get the fite anymore unless u reload ur save) u dont have to do it again if u mess up the teleporting.
once u got all that done, just go 2 the cave and start the fite. make sure ur rly prepared cuz u gotta do the teleporting again if u dont start the fite within like 5 minutes of doing it cuz the door goes away. trust me, i kno from experience :(

I started this project on the 28th, so only two days ago as of posting. It all started when I was making a song in OpenMPT and I thought it was sounding like something from Earthbound.
That put the idea in my head of drawing an original Earthbound boss and making a whole mock battle with it.
I'll upload the standalone audio to Newgrounds soon but not right now.
I realized I used a surprisingly large number of different software and websites to make this, so I'll list them down below. This was all done with video editing, no modding. It looks simple but this project took me about 20 hours of work.
Sites used directly:
earthboundtext.com
starmen.net/mother2/soundfx
gjtorikian.com/Earthbound-Battle-Backgrounds-JS
Software:
OpenMPT (This song is made entirely with it. It'll take a while to figure out all the sample packs I used so only if enough people ask, I will find out and maybe share the .MPTM file too.)
Krita (Drawing the boss character and doing some other minor stuff)
Aseprite (animating the colors on the boss)
DaVinci Resolve 19 (video editing)
Audacity (I hate it but I used it for some minor audio editing stuff)
SNES9X (emulator for running and recording Earthbound game footage. The ability to record movies of keypresses and also enable/disable sprite layers was crucial for this project. The fact I can record uncompressed and native resolution gameplay within the program was really nice too.)
Don't expect many projects like this from me, but in this case the idea bug bit me and wouldn't let go until I made it.

I still have some work left to be done to this song and I want to add more to it. I'll release that full version whenever its done but don't expect it to be drastically changed as it's mostly finished at this point.
I really like the energy of this song. I used some new techniques in this one as well. Don't have all that much to say about it, I just like it a lot.
Made with FL Studio and all the synths are done using the Surge VST.
My only complaint is that FL Studio's piano roll note slides doesn't work with it, but I get around that with making the instrument mono and having portamento enabled within Surge.
I can't help myself but include Surge in almost every project I make lol.
It sounds like a lot of different video game songs to me but I can't pinpoint which ones.
I made it using a soundfont of New Super Mario Bros DS, and Mario Kart DS.
Can you tell I'm going through my LMMS projects? lol
Sometimes I miss the style of my old music. I get nostalgic about some of my older tracks.
I know my skills are better now, but I just don't make stuff like it anymore and I don't know why...
I had cut it from the album as I felt it didn't fit the vibes of it as well.
I can't imagine cutting up drum breaks in any other software. Despite all its flaws, OpenMPT makes working with samples super easy.
This track is "Beat Saturation" and it's the version from my last album, "Plugged In: Now Tracking." Here's the link to the full track: youtu.be/n3hZglObSDc
Here's the full album: youtu.be/bLr2aw-XuOU
This track has been done for a week but I was too concerned about mixing but I decided to just share it now anyway.
This is a weird messy song but it's alright I guess.
Last upload for a little while. Feels nice getting some of these songs out of limbo and finally published.
I have a HUGE backlog of stuff I've never shared. I've got 400 furnace tracker projects and probably 300 or so OpenMPT ones. I've definitely got at least 800 LMMS projects and a few hundred FL Studio ones. ADHD is a mess, idk how some people are capable of focusing on a singular project at a time.
This thing was made using a soundfont and the built-in OPL FM synth.
Like so many of my chiptunes, I think this one could work in a video game. I think it would be for some kind of boss fight with an intimidating robotic or cybernetic boss.
Good sounding percussion is difficult to do with FM Synthesis but I think the drums turned out pretty good on this song. OPL3's 4-operator capabilities are very nice for drums.
Song is called Divided Light. Made using the ZX Spectrum beeper, NES, and Gameboy chips in Furnace Tracker.
Since it seems that the lower amount of effort I put into the video, the more attention it gets, I guess I'll upload songs without thumbnails or custom art for a while.
It was started originally on Deflemask and it's years old by now. I know I won't finish it so here it is in its current state.
I still have a large quantity of projects which are pretty much complete and will be releasing them soon (by my standards.)
Made in 9 hours using FL Studio.
The background image is made in Blender using a heavily edited photograph of the Andromeda galaxy I took many years ago. Music made with OpenMPT.
I made this in about a day and a half. Look at me go, I'm producing stuff more quickly like I had hoped! Let's see how long that lasts. Another track is in the works and is nearly done already.
Made in OpenMPT using a lot of stuff from 1990s-2000s sample CDs.
I'll provide a link to a full download soon. I think it works very well as a loop but YouTube isn't very good at that so the standalone file would be best. I'll try to go back through some of my songs and provide downloads as well.
The sample packs I used and relevant sample names are as follows:
AC.SFT C 3 (Masterbits Climax 7 - Bass)
SWEEP05 -L (Soundscan - Ethereal Atmospheres)
VEC2 Trance Sweeps 17 (Vengence - Essential Clubsounds 2)
VEC 1 Loops 140 (Vengence - Essential Clubsounds 1)

Made in FL Studio. It's my first properly completed track using it, despite how long I've been using it. The previous track I released with it is still incomplete so I'm not counting it.
I have one more track done already and I WILL release it soon.
Because it's always so long in between uploads that I keep doing life updates, here's today's one:
I've been spending a lot of time writing a story which takes place in the same universe as the game I've been working on a design doc for. It's supposed to be years after the end of the game. It's currently at 80k words after two and a half months of writing, and I'll share chapters of it somewhere when they're more properly complete.
It's inspired me to resume creating video game assets in Blender and to try learning to draw once again. I'm going to try making loads of basic assets for me to start some basic learning projects with. As I get more used to the game dev workflow, I'll be able to start on a more proper game. Not my dream game, but a shorter, more limited scope game which shares a lot of mechanics so I can slowly lead into making the game I've always wanted to.
I recently got a new job that actually aligns with my interests so I'm not nearly as unhappy as I used to be. I don't dread going to work and I feel more willing to work on hobbies again.
I know I haven't uploaded much music for a while. I hope to post more stuff. This one was a track I had mostly complete a long time ago but forgot about. I was thinking about spending time mixing the track more and adding more to it, but I decided I should just release it. What I view as bad mixing seems to bother me far more than it does the listener so I should just put music out and not worry so much.
I guess this is my first released track made with FL Studio, despite me using the program for over a year now and having many tracks which are mostly finished.
Here's the game if anyone wants to check it out: bad-star-games.itch.io/ascendia
If anyone cares, I'm going to making a community post soon to discuss the state of my channel and why I haven't been uploading very much. Don't worry, nothing bad has happened.
This environment took me less than 15 minutes to create, but rendering the animation even at very low sample quality took well over an hour.
