PatMacLearn about the BEST Sonic The Hedgehog game YOU can no longer play!
Sonic has starred in many mobile games, most of which you can still play today, however, in 2015, Sonic Team released their own mobile game, and a little over a year later, that same game was already deemed a failure and was cancelled. In this feature-length video, I go over the entire history of SONIC RUNNERS, the now unplayable Sonic mobile game.
Sonic Runners was a short-lived endless runner mobile game released in 2015 for iOS and Android devices. Personally, I found it to be one of the most enjoyable Sonic games I've ever played. Unfortunately, as the game had many design flaws which were never fixed, the game was quietly cancelled. Sonic Runners was special as it was full of fan service, and celebrated the entire history of the Sonic The Hedgehog franchise. From including playable characters like Tikal, Sticks and Mephiles, to having an incredible OST, Sonic Runners had it all.
If you ever wanted to learn pretty much everything you could ever possibly learn about this now dead Sonic mobile game, you came to the right place. This is THE HISTORY OF SONIC RUNNERS, and I hope you enjoy.

A state of transition we can't turn back from. One way we've found to convey this is through what are known as "liminal spaces". Areas that represent those weird eras in our lives where we feel stuck between... really, anything. Physically, mentally, metaphorically, as long as something is moving from state A to state B, it can be liminal. These spaces can be pretty much anywhere, but they all give off that same weird vibe. They can be nostalgic, melancholy, fascinating, and so much more. They're like time capsules in the form of archeology, and are all very cool.
Sources: -Playlist of additional videos on liminal spaces, sources of footage used, and music used: youtube.com/playlist?list=PLd9K3Vyfq1xd8DETW-G4hplK9mm8TOlch -A majority of photographs were sourced from reddit.com/r/LiminalSpace -This awesome page with lots of cool photos found while making this: youre-dreaming-302.tumblr.com -The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows is where the definitions for a majority of the words such as anemoia, kenopsia, hypnagogia and sonder are cited from. -SpongeBob artwork in the thumbnail and end screen were commissioned by the artist Aerobian-Angel, amazing work as always. Bob is truly mystified by the lost Mexico Mario 64 theme park.
This type of imagery has inspired lots of great artists over the years, and that is something that was skipped over in this video. I focused more on the real world locations for the most part, but the works of liminal artists is also very breathtaking and worth looking into. Also, the definition of liminal space is very flexible and for the sake of including more personal nostalgic entries, I was very loose with what I considered. The definition isn't perfectly defined, so I recommend you decide what you want to figure as a liminal space, as it is so personal, and under the right circumstances, pretty much any space can become liminal. I also wanted to focus on purely liminal spaces, which is why the backrooms were only lightly covered, but they themselves are also very neat.
This video is being uploaded on New Year's Eve 2023! Going into the new year itself is a transitional period, so it can also be considered liminal, so I guess this is a new years special. In any case, to everyone who is reading this, have a good 2024!
This video was made in appreciation of the aesthetical art form and the ideas it represents, I hope this brings the concept to even more people and inspires more discussion. I do not take credit for any of the photos used in this video, or even really any of the ideas, this is just a topic I've liked for many years and wanted to make something about. Thanks for watching! The Pokémon & Detective Conan Crossover Stage Play - Conan in The Land of PokémonPatMac2023-07-31 | In the year 2000, there was a stage play that crossed over the Pokémon and Detective Conan anime series, featuring the voice cast from the Arabic dubs of the time, making it an official crossover of those versions of the shows. This is Conan in The Land of Pokémon, a play that promotes the channel Spacetoon, Pokémon and Detective Conan.
Team Rocket have created a fake Ash doppelganger to trick his Pokémon into destroying the Earth! Luckily, Detective Conan is here to uncover the truth and save the land of Pokémon.
This video covers the play itself, what we know about its production, home media releases, other similar plays, and more.
The footage of the play used comes from a DVD transfer of the IVC VHS, so it is not the greatest quality, but the best that could be found. It’s possible an official DVD release of the play exists somewhere, and that would have higher quality footage. It's also likely more releases of it on VHS exist and a VCD release is possible as well. The app referenced in this video does have a higher quality version available for purchase, but it has watermarks and is stretched and cropped.
One thing skipped over in the video is the actual live performances. There’s a poster promoting it, a date of performance (December 23rd, 2000), but the footage we have is the edited for home version. The live shows could have had differences, but we don’t currently have much information. We can assume there was at least this filmed run, and at least one live showing, but there were likely more performances than that. The number of shows and other dates or areas it was performed is unknown. Think of this video as mostly focusing on the home media version.
This year, Ash is leaving the Pokémon anime, so it’s a perfect time to showcase this story about everyone celebrating Ash and his accomplishments. Additionally, a new English dub for Detective Conan also began releasing episodes on the streaming service Tubi earlier in 2023, the first time official English dubbed episodes were released in over a decade. Conan is successful in most countries, but North America is one of the few where it relatively isn't as well known, so we all wish the best to the new English dub’s production team if they plan on doing more episodes or movies, as well as other companies dubbing the series around the world, such as Venus Centre who continues to dub Conan to this day.
The goal of this video was not only to get this documented and more well known, but also to hopefully inspire future documentation of other lesser known content, especially international media. If this, a crossover of two of Japan's biggest series, has existed relatively unknown around the world for 20 years, who knows what else could be out there.
Important terms (English & Arabic): Detective Conan: المحقق كونان Pokémon: بوكيمون Conan In The Land of Pokémon/Conan in Pokémon Land: كـونـان في أرض البوكيمون Conan Play in Pokémon Land (name from writer's website): مسرحية كونان في أرض البوكيمون Spacetoon: سبيستون “Conan on The Air” Spacetoon show: برنامج كونان على الهواء
Special Thanks: -DerbyDali, someone who is incredibly knowledgeable on Spacetoon and their shows. The first one to bring this play’s existence to me, and also created the great animation shown before the play segment. -The thumbnail and in-video artwork were commissions drawn by the artist Aerobian-Angel, who did a great job. -The first English translation/subtitling was done by DerbyDali, with a second version done by nadasaab22 on Fiverr, who also watched the video to confirm everything was good. The video was then also checked over by arab4translator, also on Fiverr. -Shabab Block 1 Channel, the source of uploads of the CGI Conan on The Air show. Hopefully more clips of that surface. -The sellers that had copies of the play on VHS, and tapes of the Conan anime as well. When importing the tapes of the play, I thought might as well get some of the dub too. Importing international stuff is one of my favorite hobbies, so this was lots of fun.

Thank you for watching and to all that helped make this possible!A Look at International Cartoon Openings - Dub Theme Songs From Around The WorldPatMac2022-07-23 | There's a lot that goes into dubbing a TV show. You have to take something made for one region, and rework it to fit into your market and culture. The changes made to dubs are often looked down upon by fans, but some dubs contain truly unique additional content that go unappreciated outside of their local audience, such as their opening theme songs. Many dubs use original theme songs made to appeal to their specific audience, such as Italy dubs featuring Eurodance songs.
In this video, we'll be going over some of the most fascinating examples of this, from countries such as Italy, Germany, France and more. There is an infinite amount of international multilanguage content out there to dive into!
Special thanks to the dubbing community. Without the work of everyone in the scene, videos like this would not be possible. This video is a tribute to all the hard work of those who chronicled all of this over the years.

Ultimate Characters Have Plushes?PatMac2021-11-06 | The Super Smash Bros. series is a celebration of countless video game franchises and series, all represented together in one game. In a way, that's a lot like a merchandise collection, where you showcase all these franchises you love with your merchandise on display. Because of that, I was thinking, how many Super Smash Bros. characters can you represent in a plush display? Does every fighter have a plush? How many have official plushes available on the market today? That's what we're finding out today.
This video is a remake of the original "How Many Super Smash Bros. Characters Have Plushes?" video from 2019, now with all of Ultimate's DLC characters as well as additional characters who received official plushes released after the original video, making it fully complete with Ultimate's final roster.

In this video, we'll be going over some of the most fascinating examples of this phenomenon, ranging from an unlicensed SpongeBob documentary, unreleased cartoon reboots, forgotten pieces of music, extremely rare merchandise and much more.

Going to the movies is always such a great experience. The atmosphere, the concessions, and of course, the movie displays! Whenever a movie is released in theaters, companies produce tons of extra material made to promote the films. Posters, standees, statues, and even publicity stunts are just some of the creative forms these can take.
There is a lot more to the release of a movie than the film itself. Lots of promo items and material is prepared and released to help boost the movie's chances of being a success. Almost any film you can think of has its own material. Alvin & The Chipmunks, Kung Fu Panda, Sonic The Hedgehog, Spider-Man, The Smurfs, and much more!
In this video, I talk about movie promotional items, statues, tie-ins, a marketing stunt gone horribly wrong, and more! Do you remember the time 7-Eleven became the Kwik-E-Mart for The Simpsons Movie? Or the time a Cartoon Network movie sent an entire city into panic? All of this and more is discussed in today's video. Let's take a look at some of the most fascinating pieces of promotion from some of our favorite movies!

When making a cartoon, you need to develop the characters, the setting, you need to make a pitch for your show and think of episode ideas, and eventually if you're lucky, you'll have to make your pilot episode!
A pilot episode is an episode of a show that's basically a test, to see what works and what doesn’t, along with giving the network or producers a good idea of what the final show will be like, if put into full production. Pilot episodes are often created several months to years before the final show enters production, and as such they often have many interesting differences compared to the final show!
In this video, we'll be going over some of the most interesting cartoon pilots out there. We'll be showcasing the development histories of shows like Jimmy Neutron, SpongeBob Squarepants, the many Sonic The Hedgehog cartoons, The Fairly OddParents, Family Guy, and many more! We'll even discuss pilots you can't find nowadays, as many of them have become lost media.

Sonic & Tails in Melee? Luigi in Super Mario 64? Yoshi as a Pokémon? Hoaxes have always been spread around to fool people into believing things about their favorite games that simply aren't true. In this video, we'll be taking a look at infamous video game hoaxes and rumors from years gone by!
Whether it be Super Mario Galaxy DS, Kirby Red Diamond, or a fake Zelda III prototype game, hoaxes and video game rumors are very interesting to look back on, and I cover several of the most fascinating hoaxes in this video.

There have been bootlegs of pretty much anything Pokémon you can imagine - figures, plush, clothing, and even games. In this video, I go over one of the best bootleg pieces of Pokémon merchandise out there, a novelty Pikachu plush sold in Jamaica at gift shops and other stores like it.
The plush is based off of Pikachu, depicting him in Jamaican gear, complete with a Rasta hat and dreadlocks. Obviously not an official item, but he sure is funny!

Let's take a look at Play-By-Play's hilariously bad Sonic plush from 2001! This officially licensed plush was released in Spain in claw machines and arcades, and gets nearly everything about Sonic's design wrong, but that makes him one of my favorite Sonic plushes of all time.
Why does he look like this? How did this get approved by SEGA? Is he even official? I discuss all of this and more in today's video.

Thank you for watching! The Story of How I Got My Korean SOAP Shoes Sonic PlushPatMac2019-07-21 | I tell the story of how I got the rarest Sonic plush in my collection, the Korean Sonic Heroes SOAP Shoes Sonic plush!
My favorite piece of merchandise of all time is undoubtedly the SEGA Prize SOAP Shoes Sonic The Hedgehog plush, that should be pretty obvious. Sonic is my favorite character, Sonic Adventure 2 is my favorite game, you get the idea. I've made several videos on him in the past, and in those videos I've detailed how the plush has actually been released several times, with one release being a pre-order bonus for Sonic Heroes in Korea. For years, I thought I would never find one for my collection - until now!
In this exciting sequel to my original how I got SOAP Sonic video, I talk about all of the events I've been through since then relating to this wacky plush, and of course how I managed to find a Korean Sonic. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll wonder why I'm so dedicated to a plush

Many prototypes are very different compared to the final merchandise released, making them very interesting! Unfortunately, many have fallen into categories similar to lost media, but I'm here to document at least what I have. In this video, we discuss prototypes from series and franchises such as Sonic The Hedgehog, Nintendo, Jimmy Neutron, Garfield, SpongeBob, Madagascar, and much more! There have actually been quite a few attempts at a Sonic movie prior to Paramount's current project. As far back as 1993, Sonic movies have been put into production, only to be cancelled. In this video, we discuss a bizarre live action/CGI 90s Sonic movie pitch named "Sonic The Hedgehog: Wonders of The World", an Archie Sonic movie called "Sonic Armageddon", the potential continuation of the Sonic OVA anime series that never happened, as well as Sony's Sonic The Hedgehog, which would technically be cancelled now that Paramount has taken over the project from Sony.

I've always looked at plushes and toys in general as a form of art, however it is true that many of them are made purely for marketing purposes. Many companies released plush toys to advertise their brands and franchises, no matter how iconic they are. In this video, I'll be going over some of the wackiest and craziest brand promotions I can find, or at least ones that I find interesting. We're covering plushes like Bonzi Buddy, DeviantArt's Fella, Tony's Pizza and even Bubsy, along with many more you may find interesting. While these are purely marketing material most of the time, many have fascinating stories, and that's what I'm covering today.

Sonic is a character who has gone through many design changes in his time, and as a character with so much evolution, many different types of plushes have come out. However, with so many existing nowadays, it can be easy to forget where it all started. So, today, we'll be taking a look at the earliest known released Sonic plush set, the 1991 SEGASonic The Hedgehog UFO Catcher plush set. This set includes Sonic, Eggman, and even some animal buddies, Along with that, we'll be covering some variant sets including the plushes on karts and Santa Sonic plushes. Figures, plushes, pretty general stuff. But there’s a lot more to collecting than just toys, and today I’ll be taking a look at one of the most niche but important collecting hobbies, animation cels!
In today's heart-pounding video, I go over everything you need to know about collecting animation cels, and cel animation in general. We're talking SpongeBob, Sonic The Hedgehog, Mario, Family Guy, Sailor Moon, and more. There's clearly a lot to animation cels, and I go over all of it in this video. Basically, animation cels are the drawings of each frame of animation from hand-animated productions. Once computer animation became the norm, this method was phased out, but the cels and sketches from this era have become a huge collecting scene. Want to find out why there's a Family Guy cel listed on eBay for $2500? Boy, do I have the video for you.

One aspect of amiibo history I never see brought up are the many amiibo prototypes and samples that have leaked over the years.

If you collect Sonic merchandise, you’ll quickly realize there are certain characters who never seem to get attention. Most notoriously being characters such as Rouge The Bat, Cream The Rabbit, and other more obscure fan favorite characters, as they rarely get anything made of them. Once a character’s time in the spotlight is over, they rarely get anything in terms of merchandise releases. And that’s what makes TOMY’s 3 pack of Sonic, Infinite and Zavok figures such an exciting release! Is this pack any good? Do the Infinite or Zavok figures live up to the hype? Special thanks to LSuperSonicQ for voicing the segment on Mallow and Geno, if you haven't watched his videos yet I highly recommend them: youtube.com/user/LSuperSonicQ
