“Aircraft Recognition Proficiency Examination Form A” is a World War II-era black-and-white training film produced by the First Motion Picture Unit of the United States Air Force and is, as the title suggests, an aircraft recognition exam. It was likely shown to cadets, air crew, airplane spotters, and anti-aircraft artillery crews. The film features one hundred different military aircraft of American, British, German, and Japanese origin and the students are expected to identity the aircraft by their military or popular name. This film features short three to six second clips with varying degrees of film quality and clarity and some of the models appearing more than once throughout the film. Some of the aircrafts featured in this film include the American Douglas C-47 Skytrain, German Messerschmitt Bf 110 “ME-110”, Japanese Mitsubishi A6M Zero “Hamp,” and British De Havilland DH.98 Mosquito among others.
