Earlier this month, Jules Odendahl-James, Erika Weiberg, Hannah Havercamp, & Emma Glen spoke at the John Hope Franklin Center’s ‘Wednesdays at the Center’ series with their lecture ‘Love, Loss, and Memory in the tales of Eurydice (and Orpheus)’. In this talk, the panel traced the threads that connect the origins of ill-fated lovers Orpheus & Eurydice from Roman and Greek poetry to seventeenth-century opera, feminist poetry, and theater. The event was co-sponsored by Duke Classical Studies and Duke Theater Studies.
