Building on a unified core curriculum, Berklee NYC’s three M.A. specializations are designed for students to collaborate across disciplines, giving our students an opportunity to share their expertise on creative projects and events. In the classroom, students from all specializations regularly critique each other’s work, providing feedback and creative guidance. Hands-on collaborations include live performances on campus and beyond.

Our writing and design for musical theater specialization combines the best of the New York theater experience with Berklee’s leading-edge curriculum and top-tier facilities. A dual emphasis on compelling storytelling and creative technology will prepare you for the world of contemporary theater and equip you with strategies to create and develop your own work, whether your goals are non-traditional performance spaces, off-Broadway, or Broadway. You will gain real-world insight from active professionals in the field while gaining first-hand experience in demo recording, all in the same studios where many Broadway cast albums are made.
