That's right, I've labeled and timestamped every single theme in this login screen track! If you want to know more about a specific theme, just read the little description underneath its timestamp down there.
My favorite part of this one is just how well all the parts seem to connect to each other. Each part seems to transition to each other pretty smoothly like they're meant to be together. Now don't get me wrong, Russell always does a pretty good job of connecting themes like this for the login screens. It just seems to be especially good here.
Also sorry about the skeleton dragon. Kinda ran out of budget on that one, and the falling snow/sky light effects too. Ah well, at least you don't have to worry about logging in before the dragon roars ;)
If you're wondering why, it's mainly because I couldn't really get the dragon to look good in the model viewer so I just opted for keeping things simple. I could have added the snow effects if I wanted, but YouTube compression algorithms really do not like snow or other tiny particles so yeah. Looks like we got some fair weather over here in Icecrown today, won't be needing to worry about that.
0:00 - Wrath of the Lich King Intro
This part doesn't really seem to reference any other motifs, at least not in a major way. Like there's probably little sprinkles of other motifs, but I think its main purpose is to serve as way to introduce the listener to Northrend with all those icy wind sound effects and chimes.
0:39 - Legends of Azeroth (WoW Main Theme)
This is the main theme of WoW that Jason Hayes composed in vanilla WoW. Pretty much every login screen has referenced this theme in some way.
2:02 - Wrath of the Lich King Main Title
This is a theme that was first introduced in the WotLK announcement trailer. There are some other tracks that reference this (like Howling Fjord Distant, Utgarde, or Rise of the Vrykul) but I think this was composed there first.
3:08 - Teldrassil
This is the classic theme for Teldrassil and other enchanted forest zones (like Ashenvale) that Jason Hayes composed in vanilla WoW. It's surprisingly very fitting to have it here since the transitiion into it is so smooth that I didn't even notice this was the Teldrassil theme for the longest time.
4:08 - Shorel'aran
One of the themes that was introduced in patch 2.4, Fury of the Sunwell. The vocal version of this notably plays after Kil'jaeden is defeated.
5:26 - Silvermoon 2
Another theme from Fury of the Sunwell. This is actually a remix of the Silvermoon intro theme that's made to be much more epic/battle-inspired.
6:48 - Gates
The filename for this theme calls it "Illidari" but the mp3 metadata calls it "Gates". Most of the time I refer to it as Illidari, but recently I've been trying to stick to the mp3 titles of songs instead. So Gates it is!
7:31 - A Call to Arms
This is a theme composed by Jason Hayes and Glenn Stafford during vanilla WoW. There are some latin lyrics in this one, but I'm sure some more knowledgeable folks than I can provide those :o
8:08 - Wrath of the Lich King Outro
I didn't realize when I was making this video, but you can actually hear the lat part of "Gates" here. This also seems to reflect the intro, closing the track out with those same chilling wind sounds.
