this has to be my biggest fluke in speedrunning history
first of all, thank you to birdbanana for drawing the thumbnail! i thought this deserved a cooler thumbnail than a kinda generic one i give most of my runs, so thanks to them for putting my idea into light!
ok onto actual stuff:
i started streaming going for 1:01 any% a couple weeks ago because i knew it would probably take a while to receive the luck i needed for it and be pretty hard to get. the 1:02:07 i achieved early on was already pretty insane, getting especially lucky with remix 2 and some other areas. i never seemed to be able to get ahead of pb by much in the streams i did afterward, and anything that was somewhat promising would end up losing a ton of time to remix 2. it didn't really matter to me though, as i was just running for fun and hoping that maybe the stars would align someday to barely make 1:01 happen.
this unbelievable run happened on my seventh stream. i'm not going to get into details about how lucky this was (for now at least), but the sheer amount of 25% and 28% chances i won in this on top of everything else is absolutely insane. i was waiting the whole run for the moment where i lose it all, and somehow it never showed up. i feel like i say this with every good run/wr i get in a game, but this obviously not perfect. i messed up some microgames and lost like four seconds in mona's boss, but you would see me jump off a cliff before i try to match the luck i received in this run again.
i should clarify by the way, I WAS NOT GOING FOR WR AT ALL!!! I DIDN'T EVEN THINK IT WAS A POSSIBILITY!!! MY LAST WR IN THIS GAME WAS THREE YEARS AGO AND IT WAS OVER A MINUTE SLOWER!!! i just wanted a 1:01 any%, and since i already got a 1:21:57 unlock all characters previously, i didn't really care what would happen after any%. yet somehow, i beat the insane any% wr by three seconds, and what i thought was even more insane, the unlock all characters wr by twelve seconds. unreal. unbelievable. all of the synonyms involved.
