Conclusion: fighting Ripto intended is technically faster than detouring for fireball, but only if you stay within 16s of the TAS (which is utterly insane lol). If we ever hope to skip fireball then someone needs to find RNG manipulation or some other crazy trick.

Left path is faster by half a second in this video, but should be a second or more if your movement is good. Having to restart the hoop unfortunately kills your momentum, and while you can mitigate it slightly by neutral jumping or diving of the edge, I found that pretty inconsistent and risky")
