It took a while, but I finally got a run that I am happy with in this game! Most segments went very well, with just a handful going poorly or below average.
A few months ago I found a substantial re-route, involving using Oshawott partner and putting him on the Wait There tactic for most of the run. This allows you to Dragon Dance much more aggressively with Axew to skip more fights. If you find a Reunion Cape throughout the game, it can also be used to quickly warp back to your partner, for example after finding a long dead end.
This is the Any% WM category, which allows the use of Wondermails to get useful items for the run. The main point of interest here is all the Joy Seeds and Golden Seeds, which allows for Axew to reach level 32 super early and get Dragon Dance, and for Oshawott to reach level 23 towards the middle of the run and get Water Pulse, which allows him to defend himself fairly well against enemies.

Man, I wouldve loved a deathless run. While this time is solid and the run showcases the category pretty well, the fact that I had a death means that I might one day have to revisit it.

A few notable time losses but overall this is a really good time! Though dont do what I did in the shop. The best thing to do in shop 2 is to buy 4 charms up until whetstone so that shop 3 can be really fast, but of course me being me for whatever reason I shop glitched immediately and I could only buy up to coffee. Not a huge time loss but probably the silliest mistake of the run.

After spending about 10 months running this game and category fairly actively, I finally got a WR time that Im happy with. This has been by far the run that Ive put the most amount of time and effort into thus far, so the satisfaction that comes from this is particularly high. In addition, this was the first World Record run to ever implement the mega difficult Gusty Glade Wrong Warp, which killed so many of my attempts before this one. I am not going to be attempting another PB in this category in the near future, although I have a feeling I will try to beat this time some day. Ill be moving on to other games and other categories before then.

Level 6 was pretty slow, but then again so it is on most of my attempts lately. Its a pretty good run outside of that! Im still not done with this game though, Im close to the big milestone of 11:19 (most likely the last 10-second barrier thats ever going to be broken for this game) and even after that I might go for one or two more PBs. Well see what this game has in store for me!
Since my last WR of 11:24.567 theres been a significant development in strats that made shaving off all this time possible. Most notably, easier crits on Medusa, Frankensteins monster, and Dracula, making them as big as a 7 frame window, a 3 frame window, and a 4 frame window respectively and making it possible to attempt all of them in one run (although the Dracula one is a little more complicated than that still and much harder than the other two due to other reasons).
