The most significant phrase one can utter in Hugh Howey's "Silo" is a simple one: "I want to go out." The moment it's spoken -- and heard -- someone is on their way out of the safety of the Silo and into an unknown understood by all to be a poisonous, post-apocalyptic certain death.
Who in their right mind would want to leave the Silo?! Well, the better question may be, "Who in their right mind would want to stay?"
