Join Alex Volokhov on an unconventional mountain bike trip deep in the Kootenays of British Columbia aboard the all-new Rocky Mountain Altitude Powerplay 3⚡️
What started as a questionable idea between friends turned into a full backcountry mission: towing a generator more than 25 km into a remote alpine zone using only e-bikes, trailers and whatever gear the crew could carry.
Without the power, range and capability of the new Altitude Powerplay 3, this trip simply wouldn’t have happened.
“The idea behind this mission was simple: how do we get endless power into a remote zone using only what we could carry?
The spark came years earlier on a day trip to this spot. Sitting up there, I remember thinking how unreal it would be to stay a few days, charge bikes and camera gear, and really settle into the place instead of rushing in and out.
Eventually it clicked. We would use a small trailer for hauling diesel on our e-bikes for running excavators… maybe we could just tow a small generator up there?
In theory, it sounded easy enough.
But, a +25 km approach towing a ~100 lb trailer while carrying a +60 lb pack was far from that.
And after a few days camping with the homies, riding insane terrain, and waking up in one of the most scenic places I’ve ever been felt completely worth it.
Needless to say the new Altitude Powerplay was an absolute work horse. Hauling a serious load up, shredding the ridges down and making the logistics behind this shoot happen. The possibilities with these versatile machines are endless and this is just the start 😈 Excited to see where it will take us next.”
