The world's oldest person, Kane Tanaka of Japan, has passed away at age 119. Born in 1903 and married in 1922, she battled and beat cancer twice - once at the age of 45 in the 1940s, and again at age 103. She is the second oldest person on record after Jeanne Calment, who is reported to have died at the age of 122. Her claim to the title, however, has been called into question - and if that was indeed a fraud, Kane Tanaka has had the longest recorded life.

As of April 26, 2022, the oldest living person is now Lucile Randon, also known as Sister André, a 118 year old French nun who recently recovered from a case of COVID-19.
