Hi Everyone,
World War I can be a confusing one to understand owing to the number of interweaving alliances and agreements between the great European powers which meant countries from all over the world were drawn into the conflict.
The war resulted in the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian, German, Russian and Ottoman empires as well as the death of millions.
The aftermath of the war would sow the seeds for the rise of the Nazis in Germany which would result in another global war being fought just two decades later - World War II.
Today I’m going to try and explain what led up to World War 1 and to try and make sense of what happened during the four year period during which the war raged on.
