3 STEM activities to celebrate World Ocean Day on June 8th with little ones!
OCEANIC ZONES
What you'll need:
Paint samples (blue & brown), ocean animal stickers, permanent marker, scissors.
Steps to complete:
1. Cut the blue paint strip to be 5 layers long.
2. Cut out one brown strip and make a trench.
3. Glue or tape the brown strip to the bottom of the blue strip.
4. Label the layers of the ocean with permanent marker.
5. Add the stickers of animals that live in each zone!

OCEAN WAVES
What you'll need:
Mason jar with lid, water, vegetable oil, blue food dye, stir stick.
Steps to complete:
1. Fill the jar 3/4 full with water.
2. Add blue food dye as desired.
3. Fill the jar the rest of the way with oil, making the jar as full as possible.
4. Secure the lid tightly!
5. Gently tilt and shake the jar to create ocean waves!

OCEAN BUOYANCY
What you'll need:
3 mason jars, water, sugar, salt, grape tomatoes.
Steps to complete:
1. Fill the first jar with water. This will be the control.
2. Fill the second jar with water and stir in salt.3. Fill the third jar with water and stir in sugar.
4. Drop a few tomatoes into each jar.
5. Observe how objects sink in plain water, float in sugar water, and float the best in salt water!
