Filmed throughout the UK over the course of a year, we follow nine families as their financial futures hang in the balance. What does “just about managing” really mean for millions of us from all walks of life and from all over Britain?
From a homeless father and son on the South Coast to an undertaker specializing in cheap funerals in Scotland, and a family working in the steel works in Wales, we tell the human stories of the domestic pressure that working all hours and having nothing to show for it brings. But being broke is not the same as being broken. Despite the hardship, grit, resilience, humor, and entrepreneurial spirit shine through… proving that no matter how tough things are, people always try to find a way to keep going and pull on through to a better future.
