Word of Faith & Rhema Church Founder Kenneth Hagin Grandson Arrested on Animal Cruelty Charges. Craig Hagin, grandson of Word of Faith pioneer Kenneth E. Hagin and former co-pastor at Rhema Bible Church, along with his wife Mia Hagin, were arrested on animal cruelty charges in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Criag and Mia's father is Kenneth Hagin Jr who is the senior Pastor at Rhema Church. On March 19, 2026, authorities removed 25 dogs and cats from their home after complaints of unsanitary and unsafe conditions, including a strong smell of urine, feces throughout the house, and a dead cat. Craig and Mia were booked the following day, and all traces of Craig Hagin were quickly removed from the Rhema website and social media. This shocking story raises serious questions about leadership, accountability, and the fruit of the modern Word of Faith movement.
I grew up with Kenneth Hagin’s teachings and still respect some of what I learned from him, but I have long since rejected the prosperity gospel that the Word of Faith movement largely became. As someone who once attended Rhema and sat under Craig and his father Kenneth Hagin Jr. while in my 20s at ORU Seminary, this hits close to home. At its center is money and “naming and claiming” rather than the cross, repentance, and true discipleship. This arrest, along with the disheveled condition of the couple in their mugshots, feels like another visible sign that parts of the tree are rotten. It’s a sobering reminder to the Church to return to the basics: preaching sin, brokenness, the cross, resurrection, and genuine faith that pleases God.
